I'm looking to be a new Porsche owner. I originally wanted a 911 but I've quickly become convinced after numerous write ups on both the Boxster and Cayman, this is the way to go! Or, these are the way to go!
I'm trying to decide between a Boxster S or Cayman S. One of the newer Direct Injection models mostly because they are more efficient. Although I'm open to the 2008 RS 60. I'm relatively sure that I want a manual tranny as I love the fun of shifting. I've owned drop tops in the past and love them but, in Central Texas, the days are not as many as you'd think in keeping the top down. I had a '66 Cobra that I could drive very infrequently because of; A.) No roof and B.) No heat/air.
Question is...Why is the Boxster rated slower than the Cayman when it's lighter, and only has 10 less horsepower? On Porsche's spec sheets the Boxster actually makes it's horsepower about 800rpm quicker than the Cayman? That, to me seems to indicate that you can get to the higher gears and power at a faster rate?
Please correct me if I'm wrong? I'm not going to split hairs over 1/10th of a second. I'm not sure anyone can tell that difference.
Best Regards,
Dave
