Hello
I just bought a 2002 Boxster .When the roof is down should the alarm start off if someone is trying to put his hand inside the car....I was told it should however the manual indicates that the infra red sensors are off when the top is down.
Please help
Thanks

Strange, you would think they turn the infa red sensors on when the top is down. Try doing it with just the window open and the alarm armed. That way you will know if they are functional at all.

According to my user manual the sensor is off when the top is down.

I guess they had to do that to prevent it from going off when a bird flies by with the top down. It's a shame though. It would be nice if it worked with the top down.

Thanks for the info
Indeed they don't work if the roof is down however you buy a red clip that does the job
Suncoast parts sell it for 4 $

The clip must "fool" the system into thinking the roof is closed. It will be interesting to see if you suffer from false alarms caused by wind. If not it's a good idea. I wonder what the range of the sensor is. I always have to leave my Boxster S with the roof closed - it would only take 5 seconds to steal the entire 3part wind deflector! Easily fitted, easily removed!
