HI!

Kinda new to Boxsters and Porches. I was looking at old mustangs and Vettes, but decided to look this way.

Many Boxsters in my area (SoCal, LA) have 75-100,000 miles on 1999-2002 models. Should this worry me?

What could I expect to go wrong?

I will get it inspected of course, but should this much mileage scare me?

THANKS,
Kyle

I'm in the same boat as you. I bought a high mileage boxster but have found out that it was well cared for during it's 100K life. If you keep on top of the car and do regular maintenance it seems the car is a keeper. First thing I would do is get the Bentley manual on Boxsters and all the fixins that come with it. In your home town I would start to talk to others that have this car. It is definitely German, engine is compact, and sits to equalize the perfect balance for a roadster. Part of the fun in having a car like this is to get some confidence to do your own work. A friend that has done some of the work on his Boxster can begin to show you what to look for as problem areas develop. Air Oil Separator is a place where you can begin. Google it. Thread it in the forums. Lots of pictures and step-bystep for the novice, That's what I am in this so far, a novice, but I'm going to see what Porsche had in mind.

Any satisfaction on your high mileage question? It's a good one. Depending on the type of mileage, highway versus stop-and-go, clutch riders, 0-60 in 6 seconds, change in oil procedures, type of oil, overheating, etc., a long distance mileage car can even be better because previous owners addressed the bed bugs. I saw a boxster with 40M so miles and I swore they rolled back mileage. Not so according to CarFax. It just got beat up. Some people buy em' and dive em.'

Im trading in my c4 vette on a boxster the ride on the vette is terrible and the convertibles have zero room. just make sure the aux. shaft bearing is ok and you should be good to go

While many would disagree, I believe the Boxster is a step up from the C4 vette. Wise decision.
