I just purchased a 1997 boxster with 29,000 miles on it and there appears to be some sort of door lock sensor that works intermittently. The lock light comes on when the doors are not locked and when the doors are opened, with the top up the windows do not move down the 1/2 inch or so and then once the doors are shut the windows move up to the closed position. There is wear on the plastic around the windows and marks on the top of the window so I do not think this is a new problem. My question is this common and are ther sensors in the doors that control this?

There is a relay that controls this under the dash on the driver's side. Not hard to find it's the biggest one in there. About the width of a pack of cigarettes.
