Hello everyone,

Can you advice me what car is better (very important to me is reliability, performance, low maintenance). My favorite choices are:
Honda S2000

Porsche Boxster

Will be grateful for the advice.
Kimi

Sorry this is such a late reply - I got my boxster about a week ago and joined the forum a day before I got my car. Go with the Boxster. Hands down, it will feel better than the S2000, the s2k will drive like a civic si in terms of power, it will have NO torque, and only top end power, which can only be accessed after 4k rpm. The power curve is totally fucked, and it might be faster in a straight line race, but it's a question of Honda Vs. Porsche. One feels like a Honda, the other feels like a Porsche. It's really not a hard decision.

Plus, I have heard some horror stories about the reliability of a modded S2k. If you can afford the slightly higher maintenance for a Porsche, it's definitely a better car. Honestly, I considered an s2k, but they really have no torque, and I was driving an Acura RSX-S, and know what it's like to have a VTEC motor, it's not as flawless feeling as the power curve in a 986/987.

I hope you made the right choice, and got a Boxster. If not, good luck, because as a car lover, you'll enjoy the Boxster a hell of a lot more than an S2K. Sorry if you made the wrong choice, but a Boxster is a much better car, unless you want top end power, loose steering, boring low end performance, NO torque, and a lesser car in terms of how people will respect it, and how much you will enjoy it.

Plus, VTEC is a pain in corners, if you go WOT and hit VTEC, you'll spin out, AND, drifting an s2k is nearly impossible, so no hooligan fun either...

I'm curious what you ended up with, so let me know, please.

This is an even later reply however I have driven both, and although once the S2000 is opened up, it flys the boxter is clearly a better driving car. the one I am getting has lowering springs and rides and drives better than a similarly equiped S2000. As for power its not realy fair because my boxster is boosted with a supercharger.....

Boxster rocks. There is a reason the S2000 is no longer in production.

they are both great cars and both have pros and cons but on thing an s2000 will always be honda and PORSCHE will always be highly regarded

Still valid, though. Many drivers compare used Hondas to Porsche.

I just bought a 2000 boxster, my friend just flew out to buy an s2000. So next week I should be able to do a comparison!
