New Member and I need Advice

MY name is Armando and I live in South Florida. I have a new 2013 Boxster S with 2000 miles with a failed engine. There is an engine on order from Germany which will arrive sometime next week.

I love the car and followed the break in procedures as stated in the manual. Was just starting to drive it a little harder when the noise started.

I do not want the car anymore. I want Porsche to buy back my car and I will order a new one. Need advice.

Not likely to happen. And if you have the dosh to purchase a 2013 Boxster S, you should be consulting a lawyer.
That said, if they replace the engine why should they replace the rest of the car? What is your reasoning?
It is akin to: "I got a flat tire, which is being replaced under warranty, but I want them to replace my canvas top too." Apples and grapefruits.
Sorry, not with you on this one my friend.
And what, exactly, made your engine fail?

Come on that is a ridiculous analogy. I spent $85,000 on a car that now has a different engine and no resale value. The tapping noise started around 1,000 miles and at first would only do it after sitting for several days. The first time they looked at it they said the couldn't hear anything. It was only after sitting in the shop for 4 days that the heard the noise. I thought it was a bad lifter. They found metal in the oil was all that I was told. It will be a month before I get my car back.

I am not getting a new engine but a "long block" which probably has to have many things transplanted from my old engine. That is where the problems will start in the future.

By the way the porsche rep seemed amenable to an extended warranty as if it was a certified used car and I will probably accept that if offered.

I understand your frustration and am not making light of it. But I don't get why you should get a different vehicle.
Is the interior bad, too? The top? The paint? The brakes? Has the transmission/frame been bent?
Seriously, why does it have no resale value?
A serial number thing?
I live in S Florida too. This doesn't qualify under lemon law - yet.

Why aren't they giving you a new engine?

Same reason you described. Why provide a new starter, alternator, water pump, ect if the problem was a piston ring or internal? A long block is block and heads, so it sounds like the failure involved both. ( valve ) Everything else is transferred over. ( and still new ) a simple call to the dealership will provide exact details of the failure. After all, it's HIS car and if they ordered an engine, you can be DAMN sure they pinpointed the failure and it's extent.

Agreed, with that amount of cash into a car, one hour with an attorney to be told exactly what your legal relief may be seems CHEAP.

Having said that, Porsche should be offering one HELL of a loaner, and an extended warranty over the engine.

OP, If your health is intact, be thankful and work out the details while you wait for an engine. You're not alone. Ask some members with IMS bearing failures how they feel about Porsche.

Picked up my car last. Seems to run okay and everything looks like it is working. They installed a complete new engine, only the A/C compressor was transferred over. I have a picture of the new engine still on the crate. Porsche wanted the engine back to find out what was wrong.

I feel better about the car now. I am still awaiting a call from the Porsche rep. My service guy says they will probably give me a certificate for parts or service at the dealer.

Now I have to break it in again! Hope this one feels faster since the other was defective maybe it was low on power.
