First Porsche

Hi all,

I have just purchased my first mid-engined car and my first Porsche in the form of a 2002 2.7 Boxster. Lapis Blue with 77,500 miles on the clock. Full Porsche history and 1 previous owner.

It isn't a particulary fancy model, in fact I think it could be the basemodel, even has the older orange lens's, but I am absolutley loving my new purchase.

No real issues after 4 weeks of ownership, apart from the battery died the next time I tried starting after picking it up, a new battery later, no radio code could be found in any of my documentation. First time I have come accross this, and will be the last time I dont check the documents before I purchase. Luckily it was from a dealer and they are in talks with Porsche, with little success to be honest as we have since found the radio has been replaced at some point (I have a sneaky suspicion at some point the dealer or whoever had it before swapped the coded radio for this probleatic no code radio) so after giving them the serial number the ball is still in their court. The dealer has promised to replace it if we fail to recover the code.

So far, having no radio is no real issue as the car has a really nice tone to it, so I am currently enjoying that.

Cheers,

Mark.

Cheers buddy. I also see that you have put a deposit down on one too. I am sure you will have a great time with it.

Update on mine, still no code or replacement radio, its getting quite annoying now.

Sort from that, the weather has been a bit rubbish so it has been in the garage all week, but looking at the weather forecast for the weekend, it looks like it will be out the entire time

Bad weather is the perfect excuse to swap plugs, check the engine compartment in general, and swap your serpentine belt! You can find & fix many small problems just poking around a bit. Don't hesitate to take the engine compartment cover off and look around in there! See my thread under Technical.

Congratulations! Get an after-market radio anyway. Way better sound. $600 or less.

Unfortunatley the Boxster is kept in a very tight garage, so no room for tinkering. Not so sure I would trust myself anyway, lol.

It is more the principle now with the radio code. Once I have it going I will decide if I wwant to keep it then. Still enjoying the engine tones for now, so not all bad.

Got the radio code! I searched this site and found a thread with an external link and that solved that dilemma. Not going to tell the dealer yet, going to let them sweat it out a little longer.

Ok, I was trying to post the URL, but the site wont let me before I have made 15 posts.

There is a thread in the technical help section of the forums, page 2, titled: Radio Code. There is a link in there you should try.

I must say, I am extremely disapointed in the sound quality out of the stereo. I only have the 2 speakers in the dash, pure rubbish!

I will look into getting some mounted in the doors aswell as looking at upgrading the dash speakers, heard it can be tricky tho.

Anyhoo, Good luck with your radio code.

Porsche radio in my 2002 S sucked. I replaced it with an aftermarket unit.
The upgraded Porsche radio in my 2008 is very nice.
