Not sure I understand. You changed the battery, then neither the bonnet nor boot would open, but you got the bonnet to open? What about the boot? Reconnecting and mounting should be all that needs to be done. It really is as simple as polarity.

Pretty straight forward. If the front opens, so should the rear.
I had a red 986 S. Delightful car

I have a problem, too, but for some reason I'm not able to start a thread.
I am a porsche newbie.
I just bought last month a 1998 Boxster 5 speed.
It now has 110,000 miles. Service up to date.
I was coming up to a stop light and almost completely stopped. My foot slipped off the clutch and of course the car jumped a bit and stalled. Almost like I side-stepped it.
The problem is now the car starts fine but won't run without my foot on the gas. If I am at a complete stop, and feather the pedal, it runs but sometimes backfire pops (once in a great while).
I hate to say it, but my first thought was it jumped a timing gear. But according to what I've read at Pelican, etc. this would be a very very rare occurence since it probably has the dual timing chain. Might be something simple.
Anybody have any ideas of what my problem is?
What is the fix?
What exactly am I looking at?
I was soo excited to get the car, now I'm.....not so much.
HELP!

Yo, funnyguy. I've never heard of this.
Take it to a mechanic for diagnosis. Then, if you want, fix it yourself.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
And welcome.
Don't let this ruin your enjoyment. Mechanical things break.
