1st Time Porsche owner - 2002 Boxster

I bought a 2002 Boxster, 28k miles, with a salvage title a little over a year ago. It appeared to have been garaged in its previous life and suffered from a light undercarrage damage. I've had it on the road for a little under a year and love the car (too bad its not the "S"). This is also my first mid engine car. I love it so far.

Before this car I repaired a 2001 Jaguar XJ8, 41k miles, with a light front end accident and a clear title. Before that I repaired a repossessed 2006 Mazda Miata, 30k miles, missing many parts and a clear title. I'm currently working on a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT6, 30k miles with a light front end damage and a salvage title.

I'm getting a little warn out on damaged cars. My other project is a 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk - total restoration underway.

I also just retired six months ago after 30 years of engineering.

Thanks, Mark

I have a 1964 MG MKII Midget that needs a new motor, tranny, interior, and so on. I wish I had the skills you have, sir! But, I can do brakes on many different makes & models!

Thanks for the reply and kind words. Rebuilding or restoring cars takes a lot of time, materials, tools, money, and space. Its fun and can be rewarding, but it does take a lot out of you. You can do it as well, you just have to determine how much you want to put into it.

If you are only doing one car, you may as well just have someone else do the work or better yet, buy one that is already complete.

I had a 1969 MGB for several years and loved it. I also recently had a 1962 Triumph TR3A and sold it within the past six months. I should have kept it.

Best wishes and good luck. Mark

I'm forced to pay people to wrench. No skill, no time.
Congrats on your new wheels
