Reason for joining the forum, first its good to hear about other people’s cars and second I am looking for some expert opinions on an issue I have with the car. It’s a 2007 model with 110000km, Australia, and it intermittently puffs blue smoke when starting the car, hot or cold, on occasions it can be a fair bit. after a few seconds smoke is gone and car is perfect. I have had the air oil separator replaced, however, issue continue. The car has been with the mechanic for 2 weeks and it has only occurred once in that time, on that one time he is now telling me it is the valve stern seals, he said because it was blue smoke and not white it is the valve stern seals. I’m not convinced, he is telling it is a 10 to $12,000 job, needing to remove the engine, heads, etc.

Can someone please let me know if this is an issue with these cars and how hard is it to repair.

Cheers Adrian

Yeah thanks, took the car to a reputable Porsche dealer, who had the car for over a week and they said the colour and amount of smoke on start up is normal, they said that can start a brand new GT3 on the floor and it would do the same thing, it’s a common issue with the boxer motor
