My 1999 has no oil dipstick.

Hi my 1999 boxster has no oil dipstick.I know i can see it on the dash but would like to look at a dipstick.Can i just buy the dipstick and guide tube cut out the blank in the trunk and install?Any help would be great.

The 99 would have come with a dipstick. Maybe the coolant tank has been replaced. When you buy a new tank these days, it doesn't come with the dipstick hole; that has to be cut out by the installer. I wonder if the dipstick tube is still there, behind the firewall in the engine compartment... Otherwise it should have been sealed in some fashion. I'd follow up on this if I were you.

The tank coolant tank was replaced and the dipstick was removed.I have cut out the plug and replaced the Dipstick and tube.Thanks for your reply.

I had a oil change about few month ago. Everything has been running good until about 2 weeks ago i noticed the oil pressure gauge was bouncing everywhere. i checked the oil and barely anything showed up on dipstick.
